It is hard to believe, but the second quarter is already half over. Tomorrow, you child will bring home a copy of his/her midquarter report. We are entering the busy holiday season, and it can be hard for students to focus on their studies. The support you child receives at home through this busy time is invaluable. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Alaska Room trip
We had a wonderful time during our Alaska Room trip yesterday. Students were able to make several artifacts important to Alaska Native cultures, as well as explore how those cultures interacted with the environment. Ask you child what he/she liked most about the trip!
Winter is definitely here
With our plunging temperatures, it is important that students have all of the winter gear they need to say warm outside. Please ask your student if he/she needs anything else to stay warm outside, as hats and gloves often get lost or misplaced. Thanks!
Next week:
*In reading, students will continue to explore fact and opinion in the novel Owls in the Family.
*In math, we will be moving into Unit 6. The Unit 5 test over multiplication will be given tomorrow.
*In writing, students will be polishing up their persuasive letters.
*In social studies, students are learning about Alaska Native cultures, and they will be teaching each other the information they find.
*In science, students are continuing to learn about animal adaptations.
